This series looks into some of the most notorious prisons in the world. Folsom State Prison, opened in 1880 in California, is one of the oldest U.S. prisons. Known for its harsh conditions and famous inmates, it gained worldwide fame after Johnny Cash’s 1968 live concert there. It remains a symbol of incarceration and prison reform.
