The county jail is a local detention facility run by county authorities, holding individuals awaiting trial, sentencing, or serving short sentences. Unlike state prisons, county jails house inmates for minor offenses or pretrial detention, often overcrowded and underfunded. Often the place where more violence happens than any other Prison facility.
